This image of a three month old sea turtle in the hand of my 8 year old son evokes a profound feeling in me. I would love to contribute more to the well-being of our environment, but tiny actions and educating children to care about nature and creatures around us make me feel not so totally helpless. This turtle still inside its egg was taken in by the Sea Turtle Sanctuary in Pemuteran, North Bali, where it had been raised for 3 months in a pool with the aim to give it a much higher chance to survive. We named it Pax and let it free into the ocean - so touched by it’s crawling instinct moving forward. We will only know for sure in 17 years, when it will come back to the very same beach to lay its own eggs, if it will have enjoyed a good life.
